The following information (points 1 - 19) is what readers, reviewers and other 3rd parties have to say about the "Negative Calorie Diet" eBook and its author:

  1. May 2007 - Q&A about the Negative Calorie Diet
    "I do support the 'negative calorie' approach though, maybe, for a different reason than the popular believe is. In two words, it's all about 'calorie density' and not about foods that take for their digestion more than they can being in.There's no such foods. However, low calorie density approach do work because believe it or not, our bodies judge when we should stop the meal by it's volume and not by counting calories so ounce for ounce, the lower calorie density the less calories we eat to feel full." -- Tanya Zilberter, PhD

  2. 23 March 2007 - A closer look at The Negative Calorie Diet
    "... the main reason that French women are so slim is because of their eating habits What this means is that the main foods which their diets consist of include fruits and vegetables. This could, in fact, be very good evidence that the negative calorie diet does work.

    ...

    Most importantly, it is necessary to understand that fruit is very high in sugar. If you eat too much fruit, you will probably find that there will be problems with your blood sugar.

    ...

    As with any diet, it is important to make sure that you exercise as well in order to get the best results!"
    -- Ava Snow

  3. 5 March 2007 - "There is some evidence that the negative calorie idea is a myth. I'd avoid eating too many of these, as they could become the hidden calories that push you above 500. Beth found she plateaued from too many sugar free popsicles."
    -- Heather C, Fitness Guru on www.traineo.com

  4. 12 December 2006 - "The Negative Calorie Diet is counter to everything we have been taught about weight loss because it suggest that we move into starvation mode and dip under the 1200 calorie limit most doctors and dieticians warn about. It is much less food than we are accustomed to eating. Following the plan will mean you will have to make serious lifestyle changes to make it work, including finding new joy in life that do not include food. The basis of the diet is to eat for a lean life and a long life. The goal should not be to lose weight."
    -- Tracie Rose, the feature writer for Weight Loss at Suite 101

  5. 24 November 2006 - Fruits & Veggies - Is the Negative Calorie Thing True?
    "Even with the updated list, there isn't really a fat buring [sic] potential. If anything, you can eat a lot of them and not worry about gaining weight." -- Suzanne 3FC

  6. 19 February 2006 - A discussion about negative calories at Calorie-Count.com
    "actually this does work and I'll try to explain it. It isn't that the foods dont' go into your system. Yes, the sugar from that apple goes into your body as energy you're correct, but your body still has to burn more than that amount of calories to digest the fiber [sic] in that apple. It's not saying that you dont' [sic] get the food into your body at all. All foods have soluble and insoluble matter etc. Fiber [sic]'goes through' but nutrients, sugars etc go into the blood stream. The body though has to process teh fiber [sic] of the apple, and the processing of the food causes your body to spend energy (calories) to do so. In some cases the body has to spend more energy processing the food than is in the actual food hence the somewhat confusing term 'negative calories'" -- christins73

  7. 13 July 2005 - Opinions about The Negative Calorie Diet on IronMagazine.com
    "Well - it is 'starvation' but not because it works.

    It is horrible for your health and this is especially for someone who is doing training (due to the very low calories and the lack of protein and essential fats) but it is also poppy-cock (that is - bull)...

    A lot of the foods they suggest as being 'negative calorie' are not, infact [sic], negative calorie at all... Even celery has 'real' calories - not a whole heap, but it does."
    -- Emma-Leigh

  8. 30 April 2005 - Negative Calorie Foods, its for everyone who wants to be slim and fit...
    "thanks for posting your feedbacks. actually i tried it since the past two weeks. and it seems to be pretty effective. and keep in mind that it not only helps you to lose weight but also helps to keep you healthy." -- ladyspanky

  9. 9 March 2005 - An in depth article on the Negative Calorie Diet approach, by Elena Serocki, Diet Power Senior Editor
    "She added that she herself wouldn't call these negative-calorie foods. 'They have calories,' she said, 'but you'll burn more energy than you'll gain from them.' Lanou thinks the theory is 'substantiatable' -- but she didn't know of any studies to support it."

    "Robert Eckel, M.D., a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado Health and Sciences Center and the American Heart Association's spokesman on nutrition, calls the concept 'ridiculous. It defies the principles of science. There's no food I can envision that can be associated with energy loss.'"

    "Rolls thinks people lose weight eating so-called negative-calorie foods not because the foods burn calories, but because they displace higher-calorie foods."

    "People should expend extra calories by adding ten minutes to their exercise routine, not by chewing or playing games with their metabolism."

  10. Comments from individuals who has been on the Negative Calorie Diet
    09 December 2004 - "... you literally [sic] wasting time. I had been on negative calorie diet long enough to know what you actually losse [sic] is your water content. The only negative calorie thing in the world is CELLULOSE. Try eating paper three times a day and see your weight do south as fast a concorde[sic] without a wing. But thats [sic] totally unhealthy.

    SO what could be done is to have a solid diet system and negative calorie diet suck big time as you got no variety and kills your wallet big time if you want it to be realy [sic] delicious.

    if you guy need real diet advice ask it from the best dieters in the world the pro bodybuilders. No one is good enough to give good advice."
    -- Regalian

    30 Jun 2004 - "First of all, the term 'Negative Calorie' is a misnomer, because every food has some calorie.

    Secondly, the Negative calorie food consists mainly of vegetables and fruits. So, unless you are a vegan, this diet is impractical.

    Thirdly, the food needs to be consumed raw. Trying to cook the food especially with fat will be counter productive.

    Finally, Negative Calorie Diet is no replacement for normal weight loss diet. There is no short cut. Ask me!"
    -- Jyotishi

  11. Negative Calorie Diet Reviews by individuals with firsthand experience of this diet
    24 March 2004 - "I did research on the negative calorie diet and I can tell you that it just is total BS. Many years ago (in the 50's) a doctor hypothesized that there must be fiber rich foods that actually burn more calls than the foods contain. This was before all the sophisticated research on bariatrics (Study of weight loss) was done. The foods on his list were the typical low fat, low cal types of foods I eat every day and so do most other low fatters. After 3 1/2 years of dieting I haven't died from negative calorie loss as I would have if this phenomenon actually occurred.

    Even celery doesn't work this way. High fiber foods have lower cals and do burn a lot of cals to digest, but they are not negative calorie foods. One sure thing I have learned during almost of 4 years of nutritional studies is that if it sounds to good to be true, it is."
    -- Claudia

    26 March 2004 - "I tried it didn't help me lose weight at all. -- Steward

    31 March 2004 - "I tried this diet last month and didn't have much success. On top of that it wasn't a very pleasing diet to be on either. I need a more healthier [sic] and nutritious [sic] diet to accomplish my goals." -- Amaya

    28 July 2004 - "i know of a couple of people that were on this diet. It didn't do them any good. One of them was my cousin. She became very ill a few weeks after it. This seems to be another way for someone to make money selling books and profiting off of other people's misfortunes." -- Lisette

  12. The Truth About Counting Calories - "This is the secret for weight loss: a negative calorie balance results in ... To lose weight, you must consume fewer calories than you burn." -- Tom Venuto

  13. Negative Calorie Diet: Diet Review at the Health Weight Forum
    "The Negative Calorie diet works on the premise that certain foods create negative calorie effects (negative calorie foods), allowing you to lose weight. The Negative Calorie diet is controversial because the theory is not scientifically sound. No foods actually possess 'negative calories'."

    ...

    The Negative Calorie diet - Against:
    * No scientific proof to confirm its effectiveness
    * Very little information surrounding diet
    * More theoretical than practical

    The Negative Calorie diet - For:
    * Little effort involved
    * Promotes consumption of foods rich in vitamins and minerals
    * Increases the body's metabolism"

  14. Negative Calorie Diet - Information and Review at www.chasefreedom.com
    "One thing to remember, negative calorie foods are eaten in their natural state, if you cook, add butter, and other things to them it changes the caloric makeup of the food. In addition, this diet plan is very restrictive to just fruits and vegetables. This would be very hard to stick to if you were not a committed vegitarian [sic]"

  15. "The negative calorie diet claims that weight loss of up to two pounds daily is achievable. Even if this were true, weight loss this drastic would never be recommended to anyone who is not under the strict supervision of a physician. A generally accepted rate for healthy, sustainable weight loss is considerably slower - 1 to 1.5 pounds per week. Any success that a person would have while following the negative calorie diet would be due to drastically reduced calorie intake. Also, depending on the version of the negative calorie diet that you read about, it should be noted that a diet consisting only of fibrous fruits and vegetables is not healthy over an extended period of time, as it will not include enough protein or essential fats."

    "Hello? You need food to live. Your car doesn't run on negative gas does it? This is a starvation diet disguised as a high fiber diet. If you want a high fiber diet, try the aptly named High Fiber Diet or the Mayo Clinic Diet."

    -- Kate Burnett, content editor for the Diet Channel

  16. "Yes i do i had the same problem and i lost weight by using the negative calorie diet read this book on negative calorie by MATT RETHERFORD" -- www.duno.com

  17. Diet Meister, who have worked in and researched the health and nutrition industry for over 30 years, takes a critical look at the Negative Calorie Diet.

  18. Negative Calorie Diet Review on DietNation.com
    "However, it is wishful thinking to believe that certain foods can leave your body in a calorie deficit. This weight loss diet might work because calories have been restricted, but no food can induce a negative caloric effect on the body."

    "Pros:
    * Diet consists of plenty fruits and vegetables
    * Promotes weight loss
    * Doesn't require dieter to fast

    Cons:
    * No food can trigger a negative caloric effect on the body.
    * Excludes entire food groups
    * Falsely promises a weight loss of 2 lbs. a day (which would be unhealthy for any diet)"
